Making a New Holiday Wreath

I decided to start early this year on my Christmas crafts. I have guests arriving the weekend before Thanksgiving who will not be able to be here for Christmas. So I want the house to be ready for them to start the holidays.
Today I made a wreath for the front door. I had a few already, but since moving into the house two years ago, the older ones weren't (1) big enough and (2) worthy of my grand place.

I first measured my door. My door is 38 inches wide and is 8 and a half feet tall. I knew the greenery and decorations would be wider than the wire frame. So, I went out to purchase a 30 inch wreath. My intent was to purchase an artificial evergreen wreath to start, but they were expensive. I already had a couple of planters at home that were already stuffed with holiday greenery and poinsettias. So I decided to purchase a 30 inch wire frame.
I separated each category of what I had, and added new bulbs, and purchased some wire. I set aside some craft pliers and wire cutters.

I started by laying out the evergreen sprigs in a circle over the wire frame, just to make sure I have enough to cover the frame. I had to space them out. And, at first the wreath looks a little sparse with only the evergreen sprigs on them. The I started wrapping the wire around the evergreen spring and attached it to the frame, overlapping as I went around the circle. As I got toward the end of the circle I made sure to tuck the last branches under the beginning branches to create a finished look. You can see how bare the beginning of this wreath looks.

Then I added the green iridescent poinsettias spaced evenly around the circle, making sure to tuck the ends under the evergreen branches, and attaching each with wires to the wire frame. I didn't want anything falling off in the wind.

The sparkly branches were few, but make a great addition to liven up the wreath.
As you can see in the photo, there are already a couple of pine cones attached to one of the evergreen branches I attached. I chose to use it as the bottom of my wreath to anchor the base. I then added the blue poinsettias and the bulbs.
I added a spray of tule and a cluster of three bulbs to the inside base of the wreath and then it was ready to hang
The finished wreath fits perfectly on my front door with a rounded top. I guess I guessed right for the size of the wire frame.
